Spring Break

Totally forgot about doing a blog yesterday. Spring Break is finally here, it's all I've been thinking about lately. Needed some time off from school. Now I have a whole week to train during the day and party by night! Woohoo!

Being that it is Spring Break, if you haven't seen the movie Project X, you should check it out. It's about these two "losers" in high school who throw a huge party that gets way out of hand. Here's a little teaser trailer.

Brazil!

One day I want to visit Brazil. Brazil is the mecca of jiu-jitsu. Most of the top jiu-jitsu players come from Brazil. The level the Brazilians are on is still on a higher level than those who train in America under a Brazilian teacher. It would be a great honor to train, learn, and see what they do in order to be at such a high level. Other than training there, I would love to visit the sites. Especially the Christ the Redeemer statue that is so iconic to Brazil.

Celebrities and Jiu-Jitsu

So, I was browsing around and was wondering if any well-known celebrities practiced jiu-jitsu and actually found some of them who do. Among these celebrities are Mel Gibson, Chuck Norris, Ed O'neill (stars in Modern Family as Jay), Guy Ritchie, and Paul Walker.

Here's a video I found of Paul Walker talking a little bit about jiu-jitsu.

Competition...Do you have what it takes?

Every year in June, the top players in the jiu-jitsu community come together to fight for the title of World Champion. Blood, sweat, and tears go into training for this event. Here's a little sneak peak of what type of training people go through and the mindset required in order to win some medals! (Recorded at Lloyd Irvin Mix Martial Arts in Camp Springs, Maryland)
