What is Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that focuses on submission grappling. It is also a great way to learn how to defend yourself as well as go on the offensive if you were in a situation that called for it.

I've participated in basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, and outrigger canoeing, but none of these sports made an impact like what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) has made in my life.

The very first time I saw someone using BJJ was watching a BJ Penn fight. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to be just like BJ, who was known for his jiu-jitsu skills. I've been practicing jiu-jitsu since 2010 and I'm loving every day of it!

*Here's me in my first tournament as a white belt (in blue).

  2. Good shit. This was the first post that caught my attention. I'm also involved in martial arts, with Taekwondo since I was 10. It's one of my passions and competing in national tournaments are awesome experiences. Stick with it, at least until you get your black belt!
